Martial Law? Baltimore Residents Spot National Guard Troops Across State Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Martial Law? Baltimore Residents Spot National Guard Troops Across State Amid COVID-19 Crisis

We reported on Friday that the Maryland National Guard has become more visible across the Baltimore Metropolitan Area as the COVID-19 crisis could lead to a statewide Martial Law-style lockdown.

The Baltimore Patch is reporting that National Guard troops have been spotted not just in Baltimore City, but also across Baltimore County, and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

Here are some pictures of armored vehicles spotted in Baltimore City on Friday.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan deployed 2,000 National Guard troops across the state on March 16 after confirmed virus cases surged, now at 244 with three deaths (as of March 22). The soldiers are expected to help with state-level emergencies.

Here’s what the Maryland National Guard said in a press release to residents:

“To our friends and neighbors — there is not a threat of martial law. When you see a Maryland National Guard Humvee on your street or service members setting up tents, know we are providing services to someone in need!” Whether it’s providing transportation support, delivering much-needed supplies, or setting up health screening stations — we are working for you!”

The Baltimore Patch kept tabs on National Guard movements:

  • TUESDAY: National Guard members escorted nine quarantined passengers arriving from the Grand Princess cruise ship at BWI to various locations across Maryland. They brought food and supplies so the people could self-quarantine for at least two weeks.
  • THURSDAY: Maryland National Guard members helped conduct health screenings at the state house in Annapolis. Airmen from the 175th Wing ensured critical medical equipment was getting to local health departments and hospitals. It was shipped from the federal government to a warehouse in Anne Arundel County, where guardsmen prepared it for delivery to the field.

Hawaii National Guard Presence Builds As Lava Nears Geothermal Power Plant

Update: For some context of what is going on in Hawaii, here is NBC’s latest live shot – not a green screen…

Via Intellihub.com,

The situation on the Big Island is changing rapidly as Mount Kilauea spews more lava and gas threatening life in the region…

National Guard presence on the island is high as molten lava has made its way within a few hundred yards of Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) power plant which government insiders have already warned may explode.

RT reports that the geothermal power plant has been forced to completely shut down after Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano entered a more violent stage, shooting fountains of red into the vicinity and threatening the release of toxic gases from the site.

Crews at the Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) plant worked overnight to cap the 11th and final well at the site, which provides 25 percent of the Big Island’s power.

The wells run 6,000 to 8,000 feet (1,829-2,438 meters) underground to tap into extremely hot water and steam used to run turbines and produce electricity.

The capping is the latest measure to be taken at the plant, which has been closed since Kilauea first erupted on May 3. Authorities previously removed the highly flammable chemical pentane from the site.

“County, state, and federal partners have been collaborating closely to monitor the situation and work with PGV to ensure the safety of the surrounding communities,” county officials said, as quoted by Reuters.

As Intellihub reported on 18 May:

The highly-controversial Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) geothermal power plant has become a major issue of concern among U.S. government insiders who fear an imminent explosion of the plant may cause a massive tsunami and wreak havoc in the region due to the recent uptick in volcanic activity on Mount Kilauea.

Virgin Islands Authorizes National Guard To Confiscate Guns, Property, And Supplies

Virgin Islands Authorizes National Guard To Confiscate Guns, Property, And Supplies

With the devastation of Harvey still fresh in the public’s memory, stores in southern Florida are already running out of necessities like bottled water, and the Mayor of Miami is telling reporters to expect an evacuation order on Wednesday. But outside of the US mainland, the US Virgin Islands, which has activated the national guard as the storm approaches. However, Mapp’s order differed from the order signed by Texas Gov. Mike Abbott with one concerning twist: guardsmen can “appropriate” guns, ammunition, explosives and property needed to respond to Hurricane Irma. The order was signed by Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp on Monday.

Irma’s eye is expected to pass just north of the heart of the U.S. Virgin Islands on Wednesday and bring four to eight inches or rain and 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts, though the gusts in the most powerful areas of the storm have been as fast as 185 mph, the Daily Caller reported.

Mapp signed the order Monday in preparation for Hurricane Irma. It allows the Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands to seize private property they believe necessary to protect the islands, subject to approval by the territory’s Justice Department. Mapp issued an emergency declaration Tuesday and mobilized National Guard units to prepare for the massive storm.

“This is not an opportunity to go outside and try to have fun with a hurricane,” Mapp said. “It’s not time to get on a surfboard.”

Because of its location in the middle of the Pacific, it’s understandable that the Virgin Islands would need to take extraordinary measures to ensure its response to the storm is successful. However, the order too closely resembles an expansion of US civil asset forfeiture powers adopted by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Jailing an Anti-Drone Protester

Jailing an Anti-Drone Protester

Mary Anne Grady Flores is in jail today and American citizens everywhere can surely breathe a sigh of relief that we are safe from her criminal behavior at least for the next six months.

That’s the length of the sentence this 59-year-old peace activist in upstate New York began on Tuesday — one day after the United States honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for his commitment to nonviolent civil disobedience. If he were here today, the martyred Dr. King would surely be shaking his head that America still has a problem with peaceful dissenters of conscience.

And what exactly did Grady Flores do to warrant spending the next six months in jail? She photographed a peaceful protest outside Hancock Field Air National Guard Base near Syracuse, New York. The base is where the U.S. trains pilots to launch drone strikes in the Middle East, particularly in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen.

It wasn’t a crime for her to be taking pictures of the demonstration, but when she briefly and unintentionally — yes, unintentionally — stepped onto a road that belongs to the base, she violated what authorities called “an order of protection,” which had been issued in 2012 to forbid protesters from approaching the home or workplace of Col. Earl Evans, a commander of the 174th Attack Wing of the Air National Guard. She had never met Evans, never threatened him, never showed any intention of harming him.

Are We Being Psychologically Conditioned To Accept Martial Law In America?

Are We Being Psychologically Conditioned To Accept Martial Law In America?

Have you noticed that we are starting to be bombarded with images of troops in the streets?  Have you noticed that the term “martial law” is coming up a lot in movies, news broadcasts and even in television commercials?  In recent years, it seems like the solution to almost every major crisis involves bringing in troops.  In fact, it has already gotten to the point where when something really bad happens a lot of Americans immediately cry out for troops to be brought in.  And we are seeing the same patterns over and over again.  Just remember what happened in Ferguson – protesters were whipped up to a frenzy, when the riots began the police were ordered to stand down and not intervene, and finally National Guard troops were brought in as the “solution” to a crisis that had escalated wildly out of control.  This is the exact same pattern that we are witnessing in Baltimore, and as you will see below, National Guard troops all over the nation have been training for this exact type of scenario.  A couple of decades ago, many Americans would have regarded the notion of “martial law in America” as absolutely unthinkable, but these days the threat of civil unrest is causing an increasing number of Americans to embrace the idea of troops patrolling our city streets.

The anger toward the police that we see in the city of Baltimore is very real, but there also seem to be a lot of signs that the events of the past several days have been orchestrated and manipulated.   This is something that I covered in my previous article entitled “12 Unanswered Questions About The Baltimore Riots That They Don’t Want Us To Ask“.

2,200 National Guard Troops To Be Deployed In Ferguson Tonight, Up From 700 | Zero Hedge

2,200 National Guard Troops To Be Deployed In Ferguson Tonight, Up From 700 | Zero Hedge.

While last night’s events in Ferguson raised many eyebrows over the decision to release the Jury decision late into the night, and even more tempers, as rampant destruction and looting quickly became the means by locals express their indignation with the US judicial system, some say they could have been worse. Still, just to make sure the second night of the Ferguson protests is not a replica of what happened yesterday, moment ago Missouri governor Jay Nixon announced he would dispatch a massive 2,200 national guard troops, up from 700 on Monday night: a presence that is set to make the city resembles an all out warzone. One can only hope the similarities end there.

From AP:

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says more than 2,200 National Guardsmen will be in place in the region near Ferguson on Tuesday night in the event of more violence.

He said Tuesday that hundreds more will be deployed to Ferguson, where fires and looting erupted Monday night after word that a grand jury decided not to indict a white police officer who fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown.

The rest will be in a position to respond rapidly, if needed.

Nixon says 700 guardsmen were in the area on Monday night, when more than a dozen buildings were set on fire and otherwise vandalized.

Ferguson’s mayor said earlier in the day that the National Guard wasn’t deployed quickly enough as violent protests broke out.

Missouri Governor Declares State Of Emergency, Activates National Guard Ahead Of Michael Brown Shooting Verdict | Zero Hedge.

It’s been a while since the public disturbance in Ferguson, MO made the front pages, so here is a reminder: with the St. Louis County prosecutor saying he expects the grand jury to reach a decision in mid-to-late November whether Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson should face charges for shooting Michael Brown on Aug. 9, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is not taking any chances and moments ago declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard in advance of a grand jury decision about whether a white police officer will be charged in the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson.

Per AP, Nixon said Monday that the National Guard would assist state and local police as needed, in case there is civil unrest when the grand jury’s decision is announced. There was no indication an announcement is imminent. There is no specific date for a decision to be revealed about whether Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson should face charges for shooting Michael Brown on Aug. 9.
