Pakistan Threatened India With Nuclear War and No One Noticed

Pakistan Threatened India With Nuclear War and No One Noticed

A nuclear-armed state threatened another nuclear armed-state with nuclear war and no one’s talking about it.

Pakistan India Nuclear War

(TMU Op-Ed) — In a recent interview with Al-Jazeera, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan made some controversial statements regarding the use of nuclear weapons against India.

First, Khan started off by saying he was anti-war—a “pacifist.” He then developed his stance, stating that “when two nuclear-armed countries fight, if they fight a conventional war, there is every possibility that it is going to end up into nuclear war.” However, this scenario, as Khan described, is “the unthinkable.”

Khan went on to say:

“If say Pakistan, God forbid, we are fighting a conventional war, we are losing, and if a country is stuck between the choice; either you surrender or you fight ‘til death for your freedom, I know Pakistanis will fight to death for their freedom.

So when a nuclear-armed country fights to the end, to the death, it has consequences.”

Granted, Khan spoke to RT not long after in an attempt to provide a disclaimer to these eye-opening statements. But for all intents and purposes, the nuclear elephant in the room is no longer hiding.

Throughout the last week, the top global news story was the recent drone attack on a major Saudi Aramco facility, which was unanimously pinned on Iran. The whole world appears to be bracing for a regional confrontation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran, and what would inevitably be another disastrous war in which the U.S. finds itself intervening heavily on the side of Riyadh, if it doesn’t take the lead and strike Iran directly itself.

Pakistan Is Ready For War: PM Khan

Pakistan Is Ready For War: PM Khan

On Friday Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said the country was ready for war and its army would respond if attacked by India or “any superpower” during a speech in southeast Pakistan’s Chachro town, according to Al Masdar News based on televised footage.

“If someone, if it is India or any superpower, wishes to enslave the Pakistani nation, I want to make it clear that my nation and I will fight until the last breath to save our independence,” he said. “Keep in mind; you will receive a befitting response from here.”

Following repeat Indian accusations that Pakistani actively harbors terrorists which have recently struck Indian troops and police  such as a recent Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) Feb. 14 suicide bomb attack which killed 40 in the Indian-controlled part of the disputed Kashmir region, resulting in India sending fighter jets into Pakistan for the first time since the 1970s, leading to current tensions — Khan underscored that his policy has been to defeat all terrorist militias anywhere in Pakistan.

“Unfortunately, this policy was not implemented in the recent past but after we came to power, we decided to implement the National Action Plan,” said Khan.

“Army and nation are ready for war,” said Khan during a Friday speech.

He vowed that “in case of any misadventure by India, the armed forces and people of Pakistan are fully prepared to respond.”

Despite Khan’s bellicose rhetoric on Friday, both nuclear armed nations appear to have walked back from the brink, also amidst continued diplomatic interventions by Russia and China who have sought to calm tensions and facilitate negotiations.

Pakistan is currently under international pressure to demonstrate that it will not tolerate the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammed or any other terror group on territory under its administration.

India’s Military On High Alert, Stands Ready For “Possible Retaliatory Action” From Pakistan

India’s Military On High Alert, Stands Ready For “Possible Retaliatory Action” From Pakistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s response to Tuesday’s dramatic escalation with nuclear armed rival India was to direct his armed forces and the public to “remain prepared for all eventualities.” This after Pakistani officials confirmed that Indian fighter jets dropped “four bombs” in its sovereign territory while noting the Indian attack was repulsed and while going back the aircraft “jettisoned their payload” — implying the mission was cut short due to Pakistani defense efforts, according to the Times of India“India has committed uncalled for aggression to which Pakistan shall respond at the time and place of its choosing,” Khan’s office said soon after the brazen violation of Pakistan’s airspace.

“There will be some form of escalation,” Kamran Bokhari, an expert on Pakistani-Indian relations at the Center for Global Policy with the University of Ottawa told Bloomberg. “Pakistan will have to strike back  I am not saying this will lead to an all out war, but I don’t see that it’s over.” Indian Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs meanwhile praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his bold actions and underscored the military’s preparedness to deal with “any possible retaliatory action” by Islamabad.

The incident marks the most dangerous and significant escalation since 2001, when after a mass terror attack on government buildings in New Delhi, both countries moved ballistic missiles and troops to their border amidst heated rhetoric on who’s to blame for the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) bombings.

Tuesday’s provocative cross border Indian jet raid was in retaliation for one of the deadliest terror attacks in the history of the long-running Kashmiri insurgency. Earlier this month, a Muslim ‘mujahidin’ drove a car loaded with explosives into a bus packed with Indian paramilitary soldiers, killing more than 40 in what became known as the Pulwama attack.

Clashes erupt in Pakistan ‘shut down’ protest – Central & South Asia – Al Jazeera English.

Police have clashed with hundreds of protesters from the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, who were attempting to shut down the eastern city of Faisalabad as part of its leader Imran Khan’s movement against the federal government.

Police used water cannons, wooden batons and tear gas on Monday against protesters in several areas, including the central Millat Chowk area, local news television footage showed.

The situation remains tense, as supporters of the PTI, also known as the Movement for Justice party, refuse to back down.

Protesters conducted sit-ins at main intersections in the city, a major economic hub, and shouted slogans against the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government.
