The environmental debate in Britain is maintained by a few unaccountable figures elevated to the role of eco-gate-keepers – which is why the ecological debate fails to make any real progress.
To be clear, this isn’t just about George Monbiot specifically. Using George’s recent book, ‘Regenesis’, and his column in The Guardian, this video/blog is a necessarily long and detailed deep dive into the role ‘green pundits’ have in the ecological debate – and whether that role is truly representative given the available evidence.
When one of Britain’s ‘leading environmentalists’ is saying that genetically modified bacteria in vats are better than allotments, permaculture, or integrated polyculture – while utterly downplaying the reasons for national and global hunger to support that spurious arguments – we have to question who precisely these ‘green pundits’ are working towards… and do we want to go to that destination?
