While he is undoubtedly correct, it seems to us that he likely received a stern phone call from Washington.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38468\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acting-man.com\/blog\/media\/2015\/07\/tusk-hire.jpg\" alt=\"tusk hire\" width=\"334\" height=\"500\" \/>Donald Tusk, the life-like android currently presiding over the EU council, here photographed in hardline mode<\/p>\n<p>Photo credit:\u00a0<span class=\"cpAutor\">Radek Pietruszka \/\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"cpNazwa\">PAP<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is also unlikely to be a coincidence that the IMF released its debt sustainability analysis last week, in what appeared to be a case of especially ill-chosen timing, at least from the perspective of the euro-group. Note here that the IMF only wants the EU to provide debt relief to Greece \u2013 the IMF itself intends to get back every cent of its Greek loans.<\/p>\n<p>Politicians in neo-con infested Washington no doubt don\u2019t want to let slip Greece away into the arms of its Russian Orthodox co-religionists, which would almost certainly happen after a Grexit. Such strategic considerations are certainly exercising the NATO bureaucracy and very likely the EU\u2019s movers and shakers as well. A Grexit would also be a victory of the Marxist wing of Syriza (a Pyrrhic victory though it may be), which would over time throw Greece\u2019s continued NATO membership into doubt.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/finance\/economics\/11730463\/Greece-news-live-Markets-surge-on-news-of-Tsiprass-climbdown-as-Greeks-propose-much-harsher-austerity-deal.html\">press reports<\/a>\u00a0from this morning:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<strong><em>The White House has been putting its immense diplomatic weight behind a debt restructuring for Greece.
