You Decide.<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commentarymagazine.com\/2015\/06\/05\/edward-snowden-new-york-times-op-ed\/\">neocon journal\u00a0<em>Commentary<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Max Boot today complains that\u00a0the<em>\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0published\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/06\/05\/opinion\/edward-snowden-the-world-says-no-to-surveillance.html?action=click&amp;pgtype=Homepage&amp;version=Moth-Visible&amp;module=inside-nyt-region&amp;region=inside-nyt-region&amp;WT.nav=inside-nyt-region&amp;_r=0\">an op-ed by Edward Snowden<\/a>. Boot\u2019s objection rests on his accusation that the NSA whistleblower is\u00a0actually a\u00a0\u201ctraitor.\u201d In objecting, Boot made these claims:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Oddly enough\u00a0<strong>nowhere in his article \u2014 which is datelined Moscow \u2014 does he mention the surveillance apparatus of his host, Vladimir Putin<\/strong>, which far exceeds in scope anything created by any Western country.\u00a0. . .That would be the same FSB that has taken Snowden into its bosom as it has previously done (in its earlier incarnation as the KGB) with previous turncoats such as Kim Philby. . . .<\/p>\n<p>But of course\u00a0<strong>Ed Snowden is not courageous enough, or stupid enough, to criticize the dictatorship that he has defected to.<\/strong>\u00a0It\u2019s much easier and safer to criticize the country he betrayed from behind the protection provided by the FSB\u2019s thugs. The only mystery is why the\u00a0<em>Times<\/em>\u00a0is giving this traitor a platform.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is literally the supreme act of projection for Max Boot to accuse\u00a0<em>anyone<\/em>\u00a0of lacking courage, as this particular think tank warmonger\u00a0is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/delong.typepad.com\/sdj\/2012\/10\/jeremy-scahill-max-boots-father-was-a-hamster-and-his-mother-smells-of-elderberries.html\">the living, breathing personification of the unique strain of American neocon cowardice<\/a>.
