It was threatening to close below 18,000 for the first time in almost three weeks. We\u2019ll wait to find out. Yesterday, a London-based magazine and a TV station interviewed us. Both asked if we were \u201cpessimistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course not,\u201d we replied. \u201cWe expect today\u2019s financial system to fall apart in a terrible crash and depression. But we\u2019re looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was not exactly the answer they were looking for\u2026 And there\u2019s not enough time in an interview to explain why this view makes any sense at all. The audience must have thought we had lost our mind.<\/p>\n<p>We also had a meeting with our old friend and editor of the\u00a0<em>Gloom, Boom &amp; Doom Report<\/em>\u00a0Marc Faber yesterday. He helped make sense of our \u201cpessimism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe system is corrupt,\u201d he said. \u201cThe government. The banks. The central banks. Big business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-37686\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acting-man.com\/blog\/media\/2015\/05\/organized-crime.jpg\" alt=\"organized crime\" width=\"600\" height=\"523\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People always use their wealth and power to try to protect themselves. Sometimes they use it to take wealth and power away from others, too. That\u2019s corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that\u2019s what government was designed for: to allow one group to rob another. If the elite could take no advantage from it, why would they bother with government at all?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dirty Work<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We baby boomers took over in the 1980s. We have been in charge ever since. Since then, we\u2019ve corrupted the economy, the markets, and government. By the 1970s, some of the dirty work was already done: The Nixon administration had ditched honest money. Now, the coast was clear.
