Frustrated by administrative obstacles and\u00a0too much emphasis on volunteers&#8217; personal\u00a0experience, they decided to\u00a0develop\u00a0a food literacy curriculum they could share anywhere in the world. Ultimately Aronovitz and Bilfield went on to create\u00a0the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #095385; text-decoration: none; font-size: 18px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" href=\"http:\/\/thecookbookproject.org\/\">Cookbook Project<\/a>\u00a0to address\u00a0the root causes of the global public health epidemic of chronic disease as well as\u00a0environmental issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.4em; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 1em; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0.8em 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">They saw cooking and food choice as a solution and developed an experiential education model to engage youth. The project now helps people connect to food by participating in workshops,\u00a0training to serve\u00a0as local leaders, and experiencing cultural exchange. It reacquaints people with local foods and cooking methods and to promotes understanding of the role that food plays in health, the local community, and our global environment.
