UK Prime Minister David Cameron Proclaims \u2013 It\u2019s Not Enough to Follow the Law, You Must Love Big Brother<\/a><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not just those domestic extremists\u00a0and crazy \u201cconspiracy theory\u201d kooks who took serious issue with UK Prime Minister David Cameron\u2019s recent overtly fascist language when it comes to freedom of expression in Great Britain. For example, in a post published today, the\u00a0UK Independent<\/em>\u00a0describes<\/a>\u00a0the quote below as\u00a0\u201cthe creepiest thing David Cameron has ever said.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This statement, and others like it, are\u00a0a huge deal. This isn\u2019t how the leader of a major civilized Western so-called \u201cdemocracy\u201d speaks to the citizenry. It is how a master talks to his slaves. How a ruler addresses his subjects. I think the following tweet by Glenn Greenwald earlier today sums up David Cameron\u2019s attitude perfectly well:<\/p>\n

This is really the mentality of Her Majesty’s Government RT @<\/span>akaSassinak<\/span><\/a> But now it is not enough to obey. You must LOVE BIG BROTHER.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Those of us who are in disbelief over\u00a0David Cameron\u2019s recent language, don\u2019t have to just point to the quote above. There\u2019s a lot more to it than a simple quote. For example, the\u00a0Guardian<\/em>\u00a0reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The measures would give the police powers to apply to the high court for an order to limit the \u201charmful activities\u201d of an extremist individual.\u00a0The definition of harmful is to include a risk of public disorder, a risk of harassment, alarm or distress or creating a \u201cthreat to the functioning of democracy\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A \u201crisk of public disorder,\u201d or a \u201crisk of harassment\u00a0alarm or distress.\u201d Think about that for a second. Pretty much 90% of all speech could be classified as posing a risk to all of those things. It\u2019s basically banning any criticism the government doesn\u2019t like. Truly remarkable. Now here\u2019s how the magnificent \u201cdemocracy\u201d of Great Britain plans on dealing with such \u201cextremists.\u201d<\/p>\n
