Now, just one week before the election, that number has more than doubled to just under $7.7 million,\u00a0<a style=\"color: #3399cc; text-decoration: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" href=\"http:\/\/cal-access.sos.ca.gov\/Campaign\/Committees\/Detail.aspx?id=1365619&amp;view=received\" target=\"_blank\">per the California Secretary of State&#8217;s campaign finance database<\/a>.<br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/><br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/>Chevron is the leading donor to Californians for Energy Independence, having made two donations totaling about $2.6 million. Occidental Petroleum and Aera Energy have kicked in some $2 million apiece, and Exxon has given $300,000. Every single dollar received by\u00a0<span class=\"caps\" style=\"font-size: 0.9em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">CEI<\/span>\u00a0has come from an oil company.<br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/><br style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" \/>Once the polls close, we&#8217;ll know how well that money was spent.
