{"id":7867,"date":"2015-05-06T05:52:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-06T10:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=7867"},"modified":"2015-05-06T05:52:23","modified_gmt":"2015-05-06T10:52:23","slug":"cfr-says-china-must-be-defeated-and-tpp-is-essential-to-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=7867","title":{"rendered":"CFR Says China Must Be Defeated And TPP Is Essential To That"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2015-05-05\/cfr-says-china-must-be-defeated-and-tpp-essential\" target=\"_blank\">CFR Says China Must Be Defeated And TPP Is Essential To That<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Wall Street&#8217;s Council on Foreign Relations has issued a major report, alleging that China must be defeated because it threatens to become a bigger power in the world than the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>This report, which is titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/carnegieendowment.org\/files\/Tellis_Blackwill.pdf\">Revising U.S. Grand Strategy Toward China<\/a>,\u201d is introduced by Richard Haass, the CFR\u2019s President, who affirms the report\u2019s view that, &#8220;no relationship will matter more when it comes to defining the twenty-first century than the one between the United States and China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haass gives this report his personal imprimatur by saying that it &#8220;deserves to become an important part of the debate about U.S. foreign policy and the pivotal U.S.-China relationship.\u201d He acknowledges that some people won\u2019t agree with the views it expresses.<\/p>\n<p>The report itself then opens by saying: &#8220;Since its founding, the United States has consistently pursued a grand strategy focused on acquiring and maintaining preeminent power over various rivals, first on the North American continent, then in the Western hemisphere, and finally globally.\u201d It praises &#8220;the American victory in the Cold War.\u201d It then lavishes praise on America\u2019s imperialistic dominance: &#8220;The Department of Defense during the George H.W.
