{"id":7198,"date":"2015-04-10T05:50:16","date_gmt":"2015-04-10T10:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=7198"},"modified":"2015-04-10T05:50:16","modified_gmt":"2015-04-10T10:50:16","slug":"ukraine-blocks-10000-websites-confiscates-a-newspaper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=7198","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine Blocks 10,000 Websites, Confiscates a Newspaper"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonsblog.com\/2015\/04\/ukraine-blocks-10000-websites-confiscates-newspaper.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ukraine Blocks 10,000 Websites, Confiscates a Newspaper<\/a><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As I\u00a0<a title=\"reported yesterday\" href=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/featured\/ukraine-disappears-regime-opponents\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">reported yesterday<\/span><\/a>, the Security Bureau of Ukraine, on April 7th, had seized and disappeared two Odessa bloggers, who were trying to get an independent investigation, and ultimate prosecution, of the individuals who participated in the 2 May 2014 massacre of regime opponents, and who burned, shot, and clubbed to death perhaps over 200 in the Odessa Trade Unions Building \u2014 the event that precipitated the breakaway of Donbass from the rest of the former Ukraine, the country\u2019s civil war.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">And I also reported that April 7th saw the official announcement that, \u201cThe security service of Ukraine \u2026 has discontinued\u00a0operation of a number of Internet sites that were used to perpetrate\u00a0information campaigns of aggression on the\u00a0part of the Russian Federation aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional\u00a0order and territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The follow-up to that story is the news on April 9th, which was reported in the courageous independent Kiev newspaper,\u00a0<i>Vesti<\/i>, that\u00a0<a title=\"\u201cSBU has blocked more than 10,000 websites.\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/business.vesti-ukr.com\/95702-sbu-zablokirovala-bolee-10-tysjach-sajtov\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cSBU has blocked more than 10,000 websites.\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0It says\u00a0that, \u201cLaw enforcers seized the servers,\u201d and that one SBU official told the newspaper, \u201c\u2018We have made the decision\u00a0of the court and confiscated equipment.\u2019\u00a0He promised to return the\u00a0servers in two months.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\"><span class=\"s2\"><a title=\"Another news report on April 9th in Vesti\" href=\"http:\/\/vesti-ukr.com\/strana\/95772-vesti-trebujut-ot-pravoohranitelej-prekratit-napadenija-na-rasprostranitelej-gazety\" target=\"_blank\">Another news report on April 9th in\u00a0<span class=\"s3\"><i>Vesti<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0tells of seizures of that day\u2019s edition of newspapers by far-right toughs at news stands throughout the city, and the story even shows\u00a0<a title=\"a video of Right Sector toughs raiding and emptying a Vesti delivery van headed out for distribution\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V8TCNDbZXPc\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">a video of Right Sector toughs raiding and emptying a\u00a0<i>Vesti<\/i>\u00a0delivery van headed out for distribution<\/span><\/a>.
