Bolton, headlined\u00a0\u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/03\/26\/opinion\/to-stop-irans-bomb-bomb-iran.html?_r=0\">To Stop Iran\u2019s Bomb, Bomb Iran<\/a>.\u2019 Bolton, now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, was U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations during the George W. Bush administration.<\/p>\n<p>In an unusual touch, a link added to the original online edition of Bolton\u2019s\u00a0op-ed directly undermines Bolton\u2019s case for war:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2026Iran will not negotiate away its nuclear program. Nor will sanctions block its building a broad and deep weapons infrastructure. The inconvenient truth is that only military action like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/pb\/opinions\/an-israeli-attack-against-iran-would-backfire--just-like-israels-1981-strike-on-iraq\/2012\/02\/28\/gIQATOMFnR_story.html\">Israel\u2019s 1981 attack on Saddam Hussein\u2019s Osirak reactor<\/a>\u00a0in Iraq\u2026can accomplish what is required.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>U.S. and Israeli politicians often claim that Israel\u2019s bombing of\u00a0Iraq in 1981 significantly set back an already-existing\u00a0Iraqi nuclear weapons program. The truth is almost exactly the opposite.
