Are you getting emailed verification codes that take forever to arrive, so you have to request another?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-wrap post-page\">\n<p>Perhaps you are asked to do captchas to \u201cprove you\u2019re human\u201d and they seem to be getting more complex all the time or simply not working at all?<\/p>\n<p>Why do you think that might be?<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll come back to that.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know we\u2019re in a \u201cbreakthrough year\u201d for biometric payment systems?<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/05\/20\/this-may-be-the-year-you-pay-with-your-face-as-biometrics-hit-tipping-point.html\">this story from CNBC<\/a>, JPMorgan and Mastercard are on board with the technology and intend a wide rollout in the near future, following successful trials.<\/p>\n<p>In March this year, JPMorgan signed a deal with PopID to begin a broad release of biometric\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biometricupdate.com\/202403\/j-p-morgan-plans-biometric-payments-rollout-with-popid-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payment systems in 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Mastercard spokesman told CNBC:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Our focus on biometrics as a secure way to verify identity, replacing the password with the person, is at the heart of our efforts in this area,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apple Pay already lets you pay with a face scan, while Amazon have introduced pay-by-palm in many of their real-world stores.<\/p>\n<p>VISA showcased their latest palm biometric payment set-up at an event i<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biometricupdate.com\/202402\/visa-says-palm-biometric-payments-have-promising-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">n Singapore earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As we covered in a recent\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/off-guardian.org\/2024\/05\/06\/this-week-in-the-new-normal-89\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This Week<\/a><\/em>, PayPal is pushing out its own biometric payment systems in the name of \u201cpreventing fraud\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As always, this is not just an issue in \u201cthe West\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese companies have been leading this race for a while, with AliPay having biometric\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biometricupdate.com\/201512\/digital-payment-service-alipay-now-supports-facial-recognition-login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payment options since 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow\u2019s Metro system has been using facial recognition cameras for biometric payments\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.railwaygazette.com\/technology-data-and-business\/facial-recognition-ticketing-to-be-expanded\/66210.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for over a year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not just payments,\u00a0<em>\u201creplacing the password with the person\u201d<\/em>\u00a0has already spread to other areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2024 &amp; the Inevitable Rise of Biometrics Have you noticed a lot of two-factor authentication prompts lately?
