Power consumption for data centers alone is projected to double by 2030, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmrk.com\/insights\/market-report\/2023-u-s-data-center-market-overview-market-clusters\" rel=\"\">according to<\/a>\u00a0commercial property consultant Newmark.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"available-content\">\n<div class=\"body markup\" dir=\"auto\">\n<p>From a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/stock-market-today-dow-jones-05-13-2024\/card\/welcome-to-america-s-new-power-hungry-economy-Z9vYEy1O60DaYRQMWs0L\" rel=\"\">Wall Street Journal article<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>U.S. power usage is projected to expand by 4.7% over the next five years, according to a review of federal fillings by the consulting firm Grid Strategies. That is up from a previous estimate of 2.6%.<\/p>\n<p>The projections come after efficiency gains kept electricity demand roughly flat over the past 15 years, allowing the power sector to limit emissions in large part through coal-plant closures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t seen this in a generation,\u201d said Arne Olson, a senior partner at consulting firm Energy and Environmental Economics. \u201cAs an industry, we\u2019ve almost forgotten how to deal with load growth of this magnitude.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Just over 60 percent of China\u2019s power grid is fueled by coal, according to the International Energy Agency.
