Author\u2019s Update<\/strong><\/p>\n

In recent developments, in response to Israel\u2019s bombing of Iran\u2019s Consulate in Damascus, according to media reports:<\/em><\/p>\n

Iran has launched\u00a0more than 300<\/a>\u00a0cruise and ballistic missiles and\u00a0drones<\/a>\u00a0at Israel, IDF officials said, a retaliatory attack weeks after an\u00a0Israeli strike<\/a>\u00a0on the Iranian consular building in Syria killed two of Tehran\u2019s top commanders.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere were explosions visible in the air over Jerusalem as air sirens rang throughout the country.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIran said that after tonight\u2019s attack, the \u201cmatter can be deemed concluded\u201d unless there is more violence.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDoing the Dirty Work For Us\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fundamental question is whether this retaliatory attack will lead to escalation, including an Israeli counter-attack on Iran.<\/em><\/p>\n

In this regard, Israel is largely serving the strategic interests of \u00a0the U.S. acting on behalf of Washington.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The dirty work concept is embedded in U.S foreign policy.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Let your allies do the Dirty Work for You<\/strong>. The Israeli attack against the Iran Consulate in Damas was conducted in consultation with Washington.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The geopolitical and strategic implications as well as the probability of a retaliation by Iran had been carefully\u00a0analyzed.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be under no illusions. The use of nuclear weapons by Israel in response to Iran\u2019s retaliation is being discussed behind closed doors both in Tel Aviv and in Washington.\u00a0<\/i>That does not mean that it is contemplated as an option.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

D\u00e9j\u00e0 Vu<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that at\u00a0the outset of Bush\u2019s Second Term,\u00a0Vice President\u00a0Dick Cheney\u00a0dropped a bombshell, hinting, that Israel would, so to speak:\u00a0be doing the dirty work for us (paraphrase)\u00a0<\/strong>without US military involvement and without us putting pressure on them \u201cto do it\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n
