{"id":67085,"date":"2024-03-28T15:45:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T20:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=67085"},"modified":"2024-03-28T15:45:04","modified_gmt":"2024-03-28T20:45:04","slug":"rule-by-criminals-when-dissidents-become-enemies-of-the-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=67085","title":{"rendered":"Rule by Criminals: When Dissidents Become Enemies of the State"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mediaObject\">\n<div class=\"mediaObjectPrimary\">\n<h3 class=\"articleTitle\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutherford.org\/publications_resources\/john_whiteheads_commentary\/rule_by_criminals_when_dissidents_become_enemies_of_the_state\">Rule by Criminals: When Dissidents Become Enemies of the State<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transformingcenter.org\/2016\/01\/transformed-nonconformist\/\">In these days of worldwide confusion, there is a dire need for men and women who will courageously do battle for truth<\/a>.\u201d\u2014 Martin Luther King Jr.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When\u00a0<em>exposing<\/em>\u00a0a crime is treated as\u00a0<em>committing<\/em>\u00a0a crime, you are being ruled by criminals.<\/p>\n<p>In the current governmental climate, obeying one\u2019s conscience and speaking truth to the power of the police state can easily render you an \u201cenemy of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s list of so-called \u201cenemies of the state\u201d is growing by the day.<\/p>\n<p>Wikileaks founder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2024\/mar\/26\/julian-assange-granted-permission-to-appeal-against-extradition-to-us\">Julian Assange<\/a>\u00a0is merely one of the most visible victims of the police state\u2019s war on dissidents and whistleblowers.<\/p>\n<p>Five years ago, on April 11, 2019,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/04\/11\/uk\/julian-assange-arrested-gbr-intl\/index.html\">police arrested Assange<\/a>\u00a0for daring to access and disclose military documents that portray the U.S. government and its endless wars abroad as reckless, irresponsible, immoral and responsible for thousands of civilian deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Included among the leaked materials was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2010\/apr\/05\/wikileaks-us-army-iraq-attack\">gunsight video footage from two U.S. AH-64 Apache helicopters engaged in a series of air-to-ground attacks<\/a>\u00a0while American air crew laughed at some of the casualties. Among the casualties were two Reuters correspondents who were gunned down after their cameras were mistaken for weapons and a driver who stopped to help one of the journalists.
