Canada To Create\u00a0Registry Of Podcasters In Potential Censorship Initiative\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking Canada down a dangerous path of censorship to regulate streaming services and social media platforms. The\u00a0next regulation phase<\/strong>\u00a0comes as some podcasters will soon have to register with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

The\u00a0Online Streaming Act<\/a>, formerly Bill C-11, goes into effect on Nov. 28, meaning any online streaming service that operates in Canada and generates revenue of more than $10 million in a given year will have to register with CRTC.<\/p>\n

The Canadian government pitches the new rule as a “modern broadcasting framework that can adapt to changing circumstances. To do that,\u00a0we need broad engagement and robust public records<\/strong><\/u>.” It requires those\u00a0podcasters to register<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0with CRTC ‘only once’ and “collects basic information<\/strong>” from them, such as:<\/p>\n

“First, the CRTC is setting out which\u00a0<\/em>online streaming services need to\u00a0provide information about their activities in Canada<\/u><\/em><\/strong>.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So what’s with the government creating a database of prominent podcasters?<\/p>\n

One potential reason could be for the Liberal government to\u00a0censor unapproved government narratives quickly<\/strong>. Having a\u00a0registry of podcasters<\/strong>\u00a0and the type of content they create makes it much easier for those in the government’s censorship department.<\/p>\n

“The CRTC now wants to regulate podcasts<\/strong>,” Toronto Sun’s Brian Lilley posted on X, adding,\u00a0“Here is my simple message to them.\u00a0Go to hell<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n
