The chickens no one questioned. It\u2019s shortsighted, because geese do a job, which I\u2019ll talk about below. To me, keeping geese in a country that doesn\u2019t keep them really just brings home the point that here in the US we don\u2019t allow our animals to work with us the way that they can. We see them as something to be extracted (just like everything else), instead of as allies. If anything at all, I hope this article will open your eyes to the other things animals can do for us besides providing food (which they do as well).<\/p>\n<p id=\"88c6\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jn jo hy jp b jq jr iz js jt ju jc jv jw jx jy jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg kh ki hr bi\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Ferdinand and Ginger are no longer with us, though their descendants are. Over the years, I have had American Buff,\u00a0<a class=\"ae kj\" href=\"https:\/\/livestockconservancy.org\/heritage-breeds\/heritage-breeds-list\/pilgrim-goose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">Pilgrims,<\/a>\u00a0a very loud and very affectionate\u00a0<a class=\"ae kj\" href=\"https:\/\/livestockconservancy.org\/heritage-breeds\/heritage-breeds-list\/chinese-goose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">Chinese<\/a>\u00a0goose named Arthur, and now I have two Ferdinand and Ginger descendants named Persephone and Echo living with a pair of\u00a0<a class=\"ae kj\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emden_goose\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">Embden<\/a>\u00a0geese named Maxwell and Leona. As to ducks? Such a long cast of characters there. I\u2019ve had Pekins, Runners, Cayugas, Muscovys, Khaki Campbells, Appleyards, and White Crested (for pictures of these, see\u00a0<a class=\"ae kj\" href=\"https:\/\/poultrykeeper.com\/duck-breeds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">here<\/a>). Why so many different types?
