More Than 400,000 Texans Without Power Amid Dangerous Winter Storm<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/header>\n

The freezing conditions will end for Texas soon, but they’re set to move into the Northeast this weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Central Texas has been frozen since earlier this week after an Arctic front rolled\u00a0into the Southern U.S.\u00a0Parts of central, west, and north Texas and\u00a0nearby states\u00a0Arkansas and Tennessee were under ice storm warnings, per\u00a0the\u00a0National Weather Service Prediction Center<\/a>.\u00a0The freezing temperatures and sleet should\u00a0end by this\u00a0weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe prolonged and damaging ice storm that has impacted a large region from Texas to Tennessee is forecast to finally come to an end today as a final surge of moisture slides eastward,\u201d the NWS\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201cHighs will return into the 40s and 50s by Friday, likely eliminating any icy concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFINALLY beginning to see some clearing on radar. Road conditions will slowly improve as we climb into the mid 30s today. Slick spots will persist overnight but widespread improvement is expected tomorrow. Allow for extra travel time today. It\u2019s still slushy!\u201d the Fort Worth\u00a0National Weather Service account tweeted<\/a>\u00a0Thursday.<\/p>\n

More than 405,000 customers out of 13 million are without power, according to\u00a0Poweroutage.us<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several days of icy conditions had\u00a0canceled over 2,000 flights across several states as of Wednesday\u00a0afternoon, the\u00a0Wall Street Journal reported<\/a>. Driving was dangerous throughout Texas this week. The storm has been blamed for 10 traffic accident deaths across three states, the\u00a0Associated Press reported<\/a>. The sleet and freezing rain also created ice layers on trees, causing the branches to snap off.<\/p>\n
