Out of the caterwaul of cries proclaiming that Russian collusion, and Russian influence operations, were the only reason Donald Trump won the 2016 US election (a hoax\u00a0funded and promoted<\/a>\u00a0by his opponent, Hillary Clinton), a website which claimed to track said Kremlin efforts\u00a0sprung forth, and was used to justify\u00a0baseless allegations<\/a><\/strong>;<\/p>\n

Hamilton 68:<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>a widely-cited, (indirectly) state-sponsored propaganda tool.<\/p>\n

The website\u00a0claims to monitor<\/a>\u00a0a secret list of Twitter accounts\u00a0which they accused of Kremlin control<\/strong>,\u00a0however it’s impossible to verify their claims as the group has never disclosed their methodology.<\/p>\n

As Matt Taibbi notes via\u00a0Racket<\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n

Hamilton 68 was and is a computerized \u201cdashboard\u201d designed to be used by reporters and academics to measure \u201cRussian disinformation\u201d.<\/strong>\u00a0It was the brainchild of former FBI agent (and current MSNBC \u201cdisinformation expert\u201d)\u00a0Clint Watts<\/a>, and backed by the German Marshall Fund and the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a bipartisan think-tank. The latter\u2019s advisory panel\u00a0includes<\/a>\u00a0former acting CIA chief Michael Morell<\/strong>, former Ambassador to Russia\u00a0Michael McFaul<\/strong>, former Hillary for America chair\u00a0John Podesta<\/strong>, and onetime\u00a0Weekly Standard\u00a0editor\u00a0Bill Kristol<\/strong>. –Racket<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
