Other politicians believe the\u00a0energy crunch won&#8217;t be over for many years.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;Gas storage is up and gas prices are down. Inflation is falling and uncertainty is declining,&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Deutsche Bank AG wrote in a note this week, adding, &#8220;We can afford to be more optimistic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_49fdcf93.png?itok=bgWMdeji\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_49fdcf93.png?itok=bgWMdeji\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/Snag_49fdcf93.png?itok=bgWMdeji\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"271\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"22cdba7d-525e-4d22-ade6-46fd2b2c521b\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of late, Europe&#8217;s biggest economy, Germany, has seen an improvement in business outlook as recession fears recede, according to data from the Ifo Institute, a Munich-based economic researcher.<\/p>\n<p>Ifo President Clemens Fuest told Bloomberg TV:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>&#8220;The most important risk for the German economy was a gas-rationing scenario &#8230; and that risk is off the table now.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot to be happy about in Europe: Dutch front-month NatGas, the continent&#8217;s benchmark, slid as much as 5% to 55 euros a megawatt-hour today, the lowest level since late 2021. Prices have collapsed by more than 83% since peaking at 311 euros a megawatt-hour last August.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_49ff0f47.png?itok=IvimDxeo\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_49ff0f47.png?itok=IvimDxeo\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/Snag_49ff0f47.png?itok=IvimDxeo\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"266\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"5ba7c55a-0f92-4ebd-9f87-0e67788ce890\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, the optimism could be short-lived because Germany is years from entirely substituting Russian NatGas flows with LNG shipments.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Chancellor Olaf Scholz told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-01-23\/germany-still-years-away-from-replacing-russian-gas-capacity\">Bloomberg<\/a>\u00a0that German learned a hard lesson in its addiction for cheap Russian NatGas.\u00a0<strong>He said the country is now rejiggering supply chains that will increase capacity for LNG imports at major ports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new report via the country&#8217;s Economy Ministry shows Germany will install 56 billion cubic meters of domestic LNG import capacity by 2026.
