Despite Chinese leadership insisting that the Taiwan and Ukraine situations are not comparable, this is precisely how Lieutenant General James Bierman presented the situation, even going so far as to admit the Pentagon is\u00a0<strong>preparing a counter-China &#8220;theatre&#8221; by cultivating military ties<\/strong>\u00a0with southeast Asian allies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The US and Japanese armed forces are\u00a0<strong>rapidly integrating their command structure<\/strong>\u00a0and scaling up combined operations as Washington and its Asian allies\u00a0<strong>prepare for a possible conflict with China such as a war over Taiwan<\/strong>, according to the top Marine Corps general in Japan,&#8221; the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/bf5362de-60a6-4181-8c2a-56b50be61383\">FT report<\/a>\u00a0begins.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caption caption-img inline-images image-style-inline-images\" role=\"group\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/majgen.png?itok=-SyJSoDc\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"312\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"b99b904b-08ce-49e6-a164-4f407ac6935c\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><figcaption><em>Now Lieutenant General James Bierman Jr. pictured in June 2018.
