No panic about that, of course.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No panic because the controlling interests of the global food system have long profited from a \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/2015924.Stuffed_And_Starved\">stuffed and starved\u2019<\/a>\u00a0strategy that ensures people unnecessarily go hungry when corporate profit rather than need dictates policies.<\/p>\n<p>US social commentator Walter Lippmann once said that \u2018responsible men\u2019 make decisions and must be protected from the \u2018bewildered herd\u2019 \u2013 the public. He added that the public should be subdued, obedient and distracted from what is really happening. Screaming patriotic slogans and fearing for their lives, they should be admiring with awe leaders who save them from destruction.<\/p>\n<p>During COVID, Prime Minister of New Zealand\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ENEUktOrQV8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacinda Ardern urged citizens<\/a>\u00a0to trust the government and its agencies for all information and stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Otherwise, dismiss anything else. We will continue to be your single source of truth.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the US, Fauci presented himself as \u2018the science\u2019. In New Zealand, Ardern was \u2018the truth\u2019. It was similar in countries across the world \u2013 different figures but the same approach.<\/p>\n<p>Like other political leaders, Ardern clamped down on civil liberties with the full force of state violence on hand to ensure compliance with \u2018the truth\u2019.
