{"id":64554,"date":"2022-12-29T09:45:56","date_gmt":"2022-12-29T14:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=64554"},"modified":"2022-12-29T09:45:56","modified_gmt":"2022-12-29T14:45:56","slug":"texas-refineries-could-take-two-weeks-to-fully-restore-operations-after-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=64554","title":{"rendered":"Texas Refineries Could Take Two Weeks To Fully Restore Operations After Storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Texas-Refineries-Could-Take-Two-Weeks-To-Fully-Restore-Operations-After-Storm.html\">Texas Refineries Could Take Two Weeks To Fully Restore Operations After Storm<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"articleImageContainer\"><picture class=\"lozad-picture singleArticle__articleImage\" data-iesrc=\"https:\/\/d32r1sh890xpii.cloudfront.net\/news\/718x300\/2022-12-28_xk74jc9d6n.jpg\" data-loaded=\"true\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/d32r1sh890xpii.cloudfront.net\/news\/420x175\/2022-12-28_xk74jc9d6n.jpg\" media=\"(max-width: 420px)\" \/><source srcset=\"https:\/\/d32r1sh890xpii.cloudfront.net\/news\/718x300\/2022-12-28_xk74jc9d6n.jpg\" media=\"(min-width: 420px)\" \/><img \/><\/picture><\/div>\n<div id=\"news-content\" class=\"wysiwyg clear\">\n<p>Most refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast have begun procedures to restart operations that were disrupted by the massive winter storm late last week, but a full return to normal output of motor fuels could take up to two weeks for some facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The freezing temperatures affected refinery equipment and caused issues at the steam and co-generation units at some refineries, sources with knowledge of the situation told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/us-oil-refiners-restoring-lost-output-some-outages-run-into-january-2022-12-27\/\">Reuters<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Pemex\u2019s Deer Park refinery and Motiva Enterprises\u2019 Port Arthur, the biggest refinery in the United States, could see their restart stretched out to the first or second week of January, sources familiar with the refineries\u2019 operations and schedules told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Storm Elliott led to hard-freeze warnings issued for all the states along the U.S. Gulf Coast, where most of the U.S. refining capacity is located.<\/p>\n<p>As of Friday, December 23, as much as 1.5 million bpd of the Gulf Coast\u2019s refining capacity was shut down due to the freezing temperatures, per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/storm-cuts-us-oil-gas-power-output-sending-prices-higher-2022-12-23\/\">Reuters estimates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Refineries run by Motiva Enterprises, Marathon Petroleum, and TotalEnergies outside Houston were shut late last week.
