{"id":6390,"date":"2015-03-10T19:45:32","date_gmt":"2015-03-11T00:45:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=6390"},"modified":"2015-03-10T19:45:33","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T00:45:33","slug":"dollars-are-worthless-without-crude-oil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=6390","title":{"rendered":"Dollars are worthless without crude oil"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"para\"><a href=\"http:\/\/transitionvoice.com\/2015\/03\/dollars-are-worthless-without-crude-oil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Dollars are worthless without crude oil<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<p class=\"para\">In\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fromfilmerstofarmers.com\/blog\/2015\/february\/follow-the-energy-to-find-the-money\" target=\"_self\">my previous post<\/a>\u00a0I drew some parallels between energy and money \u2013 and more specifically, energy and banking \u2013 and pointed out that when money is at stake, the presence of energy is likely lurking somewhere in the shadows. It was mostly hypotheses and observations I was throwing around about energy and banking, but when it comes to energy and\u00a0<em>money<\/em>, one can hardly overstate the connection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"para\">Take an Economics 101 class, however, and not only will it be very unlikely that you\u2019ll ever hear of energy mentioned in a context besides that of a random commodity within the supply and demand workings of the \u201cfree market,\u201d but what you will likely hear is that, gosh darnit, money is an efficiency-laden tool that we humans came up with \u2019cause we\u2019re just so darn smart!<\/p>\n<p>As the story goes, money was ingeniously invented with three primary roles in mind:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A\u00a0medium of exchange<\/li>\n<li>A store of value, and<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0unit of account<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Otherwise put, money\u00a0(supposedly) has absolutely nothing to do with energy.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">&#8211; See more at: http:\/\/transitionvoice.com\/2015\/03\/dollars-are-worthless-without-crude-oil\/#sthash.OTsWvnFI.dpuf<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dollars are worthless without crude oil In\u00a0my previous post\u00a0I drew some parallels between energy and money \u2013 and more specifically, energy and banking \u2013 and pointed out that when money is at stake, the presence of energy is likely lurking somewhere in the shadows.
