{"id":63468,"date":"2022-09-07T06:23:04","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T11:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=63468"},"modified":"2022-09-07T06:24:10","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T11:24:10","slug":"net-zero-is-dead-so-what-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=63468","title":{"rendered":"Net zero is dead \u2013 so what now?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-cover-head\">\n<div class=\"single-post-thumb single-has-thumb\">\n<div class=\"post-cover-title\">\n<h3 class=\"name post-title entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/consciousnessofsheep.co.uk\/2022\/08\/30\/net-zero-is-dead-so-what-now\/\">Net zero is dead \u2013 so what now?<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content post-cover\">\n<article id=\"the-post\" class=\"post-listing post-8495 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail category-energy\">\n<div class=\"post-inner\">\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>There is a deep irony that Europe\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleanenergywire.org\/news\/shut-down-last-german-wind-turbine-rotor-plant-could-put-renewables-expansion-danger\">wind turbine factories<\/a>\u00a0were among the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-scotland-58488135\">first to close<\/a>\u00a0in the face of our growing energy crisis.\u00a0 Nevertheless, it goes a long way to demonstrating the fundamental flaw in the net zero project \u2013 while the harvested energy of the wind may be renewable, the technologies that do the harvesting are not.\u00a0 Indeed, these supposedly \u201cgreen\u201d technologies depend upon complex global supply chains powered by fossil fuels at every stage of their manufacture, transportation, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.\u00a0 But that inconvenient truth was never allowed to get in the way of the technocratic net zero fantasy \u2013 aka \u201cthe great reset,\u201d \u201cthe green new deal,\u201d or \u201cthe fourth industrial revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t, you see, just us who were \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/T19tHn_LA80\">energy blind<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 Indeed, those at the bottom of the income ladder tend to be more aware of the importance of energy \u2013 including having enough calories to ward off hunger \u2013 than the technocrats and elites at the top of the pyramid, who tend to believe that they are perched up in the clouds solely due to their own efforts, rather than to having burned their way through a mountain of coal and an ocean of oil to generate their theoretical wealth.\u00a0 And so, they sold us this children\u2019s story about how complexity and science don\u2019t really matter, and that so long as we all wish hard enough, we could replace all of the coal, gas and oil with sunlight, wind and pixie dust.\u00a0 And in doing so, nothing would really change, and we would all own nothing but still live happily ever after.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Net zero is dead \u2013 so what now?
