This placed a bid under electricity prices as the cost to generate power soars because of tightening supplies due to declining Russian flows.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Already high gas prices, combined with low wind output will require less efficient, higher cost gas plants to fire up, pushing up prices,&#8221; BloombergNEF&#8217;s Andreas Gandolfo said.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Day-ahead power prices in France traded at 383.14 euros ($404.08) a megawatt-hour, up more than 64% from last week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_12afe9a.png?itok=-zq2tPZj\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_12afe9a.png?itok=-zq2tPZj\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/Snag_12afe9a.png?itok=-zq2tPZj\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"224\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"e919dd15-4673-492e-91ba-cffb7133d302\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Besides tight fossil fuel supplies and a lack of renewable power from Germany and Italy,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/commodities\/half-frances-nuclear-reactors-are-shutdown-amid-energy-crisis\">half of France&#8217;s 56 nuclear reactors<\/a>\u00a0are offline. France was the biggest net exporter of power last year, supplying many European countries.<\/p>\n<p>French nuclear power is needed when renewable energy is lacking.
