That\u2019s sure what it sounded line yesterday at the joint press conference with visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Biden\u2019s royal deportment\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/raymcgovern.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/critical_hour_905_seg_2.mp3\">was discussed yesterday on\u00a0<i>The Critical Hour<\/i><\/a>, as well as the various visits of top European leaders in recent days; Macron to Moscow, as well as Scholz to Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Never before has the subjunctive mood carried such alarming connotation. Everything depends, you see, on IF Russia Invades Ukraine. I have told my interviewers that, IF Russian troops outrace Godot into Kiev (See:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/original.antiwar.com\/mcgovern\/2022\/01\/21\/godot-likely-to-arrive-before-russia-invades-ukraine\">Godot Likely To Arrive Before Russia Invades Ukraine<\/a>), I will stand corrected. Today, when I referred back to my insistence for months that Putin is not stupid enough to invade Ukraine (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/raymcgovern\/status\/1466444326062497795\">See, for example, this<\/a>), my radio hosts mercifully avoided asking whether I thought an invasion was \u201cimminent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>The \u2018Botch From Hell\u2019 on Nordstream 2<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Some congress members have been saying for months that, IF the Russians invade Ukraine, \u201csanctions from hell\u201d will be imposed on Russia. Biden\u2019s misbegotten gaffe, however, might well be described as \u201cthe botch from hell\u201d, since he asserted imminent \u2013 sorry, I mean eminent \u2013 domain over Nord Stream 2. Poor Chancellor Scholz was standing right there, no doubt wishing he could hide behind his podium until the next question.
