Budgets are tight, triggering a\u00a0<strong>&#8216;winter of discontent&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0if widespread inflation doesn&#8217;t diminish.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>In some ways, the worst is still to come<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 because although food price inflation in Tesco last quarter was only 1%, we are impacted by rising energy prices. Our suppliers are impacted by rising energy prices. We&#8217;re doing all we can to offset it \u2026 but that&#8217;s the sort of number we&#8217;re talking about. So when Allan speaks about the worst of the food inflation has yet to come &#8212; it&#8217;s very concerning that food price hikes might continue well through spring.
