Regenerative Futures: Redesigning the human impact on Earth<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Good evening everyone and thank you so much for choosing to celebrate this award with me today. I am deeply grateful to the RSA for creating the\u00a0Regenerative Futures programme<\/a>. It is a powerful invitation to the global fellowship of cultural creatives \u2014 who are united by this over 260 year old institution \u2014 to take time to consider regenerative development and design and its significance to all our future. More importantly it invites culturally creative discourse, creativity and experimentations with pathways that may bring about such a future.<\/p>\n

Personally,\u00a0<\/span>I am deeply touched and humbled by the honour of being awarded the RSA\u2019s Bicentenary Medal 2021. Thank you! Acknowledgment from established institutions is rare for the many people around the world who are already finding purpose and deep meaning in reconnecting to life\u2019s regenerative impulse.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistorically, the medal has been awarded to inspirational designers because of their outstanding contribution to society. These include Andrea Cooper in 2015, Sir John Sorrell CBE in 1998, and Sir Terence Conran in 1982. In 2021, the medal will be awarded to a person who has made an outstanding and demonstrable contribution, through their\u00a0design practice<\/strong>, towards an equitable and regenerative world where people and planet flourish hand-in-hand in the long-term.\u201d \u2014\u00a0The RSA<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This award is for the many generations before us who knew how to \u201cwalk into the future in beauty\u201d as the Navajo advice their children. Without our shared indigenous ancestors we simply would not be here now.<\/p>\n

This award is also to all of you out there who have kept alive the ancient traditions of living in right relationship with the community of life.<\/p>\n

This award is to all the pioneers who have tried in different ways to bring the insights of science and the power of design and technology into service to life itself again.<\/p>\n
