But no matter how\u00a0<i>potentially\u00a0<\/i>useful a plant is, its usefulness is only\u00a0<i>actualized\u00a0<\/i>when you learn to use it consistently. The more consistently you use a plant the more useful it becomes, and the more you come to rely on it, the better care you take of it.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been keen on ginger<i>\u00a0<\/i>for a long time, but I\u2019ve neglected and lost a lot of ginger plants because I kept putting them in places where I\u2019d forget to take care of them and use them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><strong>Ginger connections\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Plants that thrive in what I call \u201ca RealFood garden\u201d* are plants with\u00a0<i>connections<\/i><a class=\"sdendnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/www.permaculturenews.org\/2021\/12\/13\/ginger-in-a-realfood-garden\/#sdendnote1sym\" name=\"sdendnote1anc\"><sup>i<\/sup><\/a>. The more the better. Here are some of the connections I think about when I think of ginger.<\/p>\n<p>*Can be linked to the other post I\u2019ve sent with this one, \u201cConnections in a RealFood Garden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><strong>\u2026 to the kitchen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I use ginger in salad dressings and its also a key ingredient in my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arealgreenlife.com\/homemade-ginger-sauerkraut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>sauerkraut<\/u><\/a>. I\u2019m not very good (yet) at using it in other culinary ways, but there\u2019s always hope. Cooled ginger tea quenches thirst much more effectively than water.<\/p>\n<p>And a cup of ginger tea before a meal helps digestion and may provide a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chopra.com\/articles\/8-incredible-health-benefits-of-eating-ginger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>raft of other benefits<\/u><\/a>\u00a0from reduced inflammation to helping keep cholesterol levels balanced.
