Simultaneously, the psychology of empty store shelves and President Biden&#8217;s inability to normalize supply chains forced some people to panic hoard this fall as uncertainty about food supplies\u00a0mount.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/shortage_2.jpg?itok=qXPB--XR\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/shortage_2.jpg?itok=qXPB--XR\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/shortage_2.jpg?itok=qXPB--XR\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"263\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"20c41ab9-ec9a-439e-b4bb-7c3144f2e9d8\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chris Jones, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs &amp; Counsel of the National Grocers Association, told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/food\/noticing-shortage-your-favorite-grocery-items-here-s-why-t234781\">Today<\/a>, &#8220;shopping early for the holidays is a wise strategy, especially under current conditions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;There&#8217;s plenty of food in the supply chain, but certain items may be harder to get at certain times due to a nationwide shortage of labor impacting manufacturers, shippers and retailers. Additionally, lack of enforcement of antitrust laws in the grocery marketplace have allowed dominant retailers to secure more favorable terms and ample supplies of high-demand goods while leaving many smaller retailers with limited selections or, in some cases, bare shelves,&#8221; Jones said.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a separate report,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2021\/10\/15\/grocery-shortage-toilet-paper-coffee-chicken-hard-find\/8455259002\/\">USA Today<\/a>\u00a0listed items that customers are having trouble finding at grocery stores.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Ben &amp; Jerry flavors<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This frozen treat is usually the perfect dessert, but in an email on Sept. 14, Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s parent company, Unilever, cited labor shortages as the reason for reducing the amount of flavors produced. The company said it will focus on producing its most popular flavors.
