First approved by\u00a0Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi&#8217;s cabinet a month ago, it has now become mandatory on Oct.15.<\/p>\n<p>Protests have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/10\/15\/world\/italy-covid-green-pass#protesting-workers-in-trieste-block-some-access-to-a-busy-port\">quick to pop up<\/a>\u00a0across various parts of the country, particularly as workers who don&#8217;t comply\u00a0<strong>can be fined 1,500 euros\u00a0($1,760)<\/strong>; and alternately workers can be\u00a0<strong>forced to take unpaid leave<\/strong>\u00a0for refusing the jab.
