The storm is set to strike Louisiana later this afternoon\/evening, and on the same day, 16 years ago, Hurricane Katrina struck the area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/ida%20storm.jpg?itok=-2F4dosp\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/ida%20storm.jpg?itok=-2F4dosp\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/ida%20storm.jpg?itok=-2F4dosp\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"507\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"d99934b7-9e86-49bb-a538-698fdbd569ed\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of 0600 ET,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHC_Atlantic\/status\/1431934499143647241?s=20\">National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration<\/a> (NOAA) plane flew into the storm and found Ida is an &#8220;extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane about to make landfall in southeastern Louisiana later today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Reports from an NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 150 mph (240 km\/h) with higher gusts. The latest minimum central pressure estimated from reconnaissance aircraft data is 935 mb (27.61 in).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/plane_1.png?itok=_nD5oppL\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/plane_1.png?itok=_nD5oppL\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/plane_1.png?itok=_nD5oppL\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"7649940f-bcfe-4ec1-ad3a-d166d8eef78e\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>An elevated NOAA C-MAN station at Pilot&#8217;s Station East near Southwest Pass, Louisiana, recently reported a sustained wind of 82 mph (131 km\/h) and a gust to 107 mph (172 km\/h).
