One could argue that Greece is being thrown under the bus because it\u2019s not \u2013 yet \u2013 deeply enough entangled and enmeshed in the global financial matrix. Just think back to a point<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/videos\/2015-02-20\/euro-is-one-of-the-worst-designed-currencies-kerr\" target=\"new\">Gordon Kerr of Cobden Partners<\/a>\u00a0made a few days ago on Bloomberg:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>They [Greece] don\u2019t have systemically important financial institutions dragging down their economy ..<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, Greek banks are not too big to fail. They could therefore be restructured \u2013 by the Greek government itself \u2013 without global contagion, certainly theoretically (it\u2019s hard to pinpoint how this would turn out in practice, there are too many variables involved). And that is a major potential threat to other \u2013 European -banks, who A) could then also face calls for restructuring, and B) still have money invested in Greece. Just not that much anymore\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Whitehouse showed in a piece over the weekend to what extent Germany\u2019s banks pulled out of Greece since 2010.
