an outcome which would nuke hopes for renormalization in soaring inflation &#8211; as a result of the partial (for now) shutdown of China&#8217;s busiest port by volume (and third-largest container port in the world after Shanghai and Singapore) when operations at the Ningbo Meishan Container Terminal, also referred to as the Meishan Terminal, were immediately suspended following positive Covid test results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/container%20shipping%20rates_1.jpg?itok=7wdkSRVB\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/container%20shipping%20rates_1.jpg?itok=7wdkSRVB\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/container%20shipping%20rates_1.jpg?itok=7wdkSRVB\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"236\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"b0f75088-a47c-4deb-909b-c5d3f6fad1de\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, it didn&#8217;t take too long for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-12\/massive-china-port-shutdown-raises-fears-of-closures-worldwide?sref=6uww027M\">Bloomberg to report that the spread\u00a0<\/a>of the delta variant could &#8220;lead to a repeat of last year\u2019s shipping nightmares&#8221;, and for confirmation look no further than the Port of Los Angeles, the nation&#8217;s busiest post, which in June saw its volumes dip because of a Covid outbreak at the Yantian port in China, and which\u00a0<strong>is bracing for another potential decline because of the latest shutdown at the Ningbo-Zhoushan port in China, a spokesman said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anton Posner, chief executive officer of supply-chain management company Mercury Resources, said that many companies chartering ships are already adding Covid contract clauses as insurance so they won\u2019t have to pay for stranded ships.<\/p>\n<p>And here is the core problem with all those endorsing a &#8220;transitory&#8221;
