Their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/earth-insight\/2014\/jun\/04\/scientists-limits-to-growth-vindicated-investment-transition-circular-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">system dynamics model<\/a>\u00a0published by the Club of Rome identified impending \u2018limits to growth\u2019 (LtG) that meant industrial civilization was on track to collapse sometime within the 21st century, due to overexploitation of planetary resources.<\/p>\n<p>The controversial MIT analysis generated heated debate, and was widely derided at the time by pundits who misrepresented its findings and methods. But the analysis has now received stunning vindication from a study written by a senior director at professional services giant KPMG, one of the &#8216;Big Four&#8217; accounting firms as measured by global revenue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__body-heading\" data-component=\"HeadingBlock\">\n<p class=\"article__body-heading__heading heading2\"><strong>Limits to growth<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The study was published in the\u00a0<em>Yale Journal of Industrial Ecology<\/em>\u00a0in November 2020 and is available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/advisory.kpmg.us\/articles\/2021\/limits-to-growth.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the KPMG website<\/a>.
