The Problem Isn\u2019t Human Nature, The Problem Is A Few Manipulative Sociopaths<\/a><\/h3>\n

The\u00a0Principia Discordia<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is the primary text of\u00a0Discordianism<\/a>, which has been described as either an elaborate joke disguised as a religion or a religion disguised as an elaborate joke, depending on who you ask.<\/p>\n

One section describes a short dialogue between the\u00a0Principia<\/em>\u2018s author \u201cMalaclypse the Younger\u201d (Mal-2) and \u201cthe Goddess\u201d, who speaks to him through a radio:<\/p>\n

One day Mal-2 asked the messenger spirit\u00a0Saint Gulik\u00a0to approach the Goddess and request Her presence for some desperate advice. Shortly afterwards the radio came on by itself, and an ethereal female Voice said\u00a0YES?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cO! Eris! Blessed Mother of Man! Queen of Chaos! Daughter of Discord! Concubine of Confusion! O! Exquisite Lady, I beseech You to lift a heavy burden from my heart!\u201d<\/p>\n

WHAT BOTHERS YOU, MAL? YOU DON\u2019T SOUND WELL.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cI am filled with fear and tormented with terrible visions of pain. Everywhere people are hurting one another, the planet is rampant with injustices, whole societies plunder groups of their own people, mothers imprison sons, children perish while brothers war. O, woe.\u201d<\/p>\n

WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THAT, IF IT IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cBut nobody Wants it! Everybody hates it.\u201d<\/p>\n

OH. WELL, THEN STOP.<\/b><\/p>\n

At which moment She turned herself into an aspirin commercial and left The Polyfather stranded alone with his species.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWELL, THEN STOP.\u201d As you would expect from a joke disguised as a religion (or religion disguised as a joke), this is both funny and profound.<\/p>\n

Because doesn\u2019t it kind of feel like that\u2019s the message we\u2019ve been getting? From the divine if you like, or from the universe, or just from the mundane reality of our situation?…<\/p>\n
