You Counter Trumpism By Ending The Conditions Which Created It, Not With Authoritarian Policies<\/a><\/h3>\n

The US political\/media class have been\u00a0pushing hard for more authoritarian policies<\/a>\u00a0to stave off the threat of \u201cdomestic terrorism\u201d in the wake of the Capitol riot. President Biden, who\u00a0was already working<\/a>\u00a0on rolling out new domestic terror policies well before January sixth,\u00a0confirmed after the riot<\/a>\u00a0that he is making these new measures a priority. Political internet censorship is becoming\u00a0increasingly normalized<\/a>, anti-protest bills\u00a0are being passed<\/a>, and now we\u2019re seeing liberals\u00a0encouraged to form \u201cdigital armies\u201d<\/a>\u00a0to spy on Trump supporters to report them to the authorities.<\/p>\n

And an amazingly large percentage of the US population seems to have no problem with any of this, even in sectors of the political spectrum that should really know better by now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat else can we do?\u201d they reason. \u201cWhat other solution could there possibly be to the threat of dangerous fascists and conspiracy theorists continuing to gain power and influence?\u201d<\/p>\n

Well there\u2019s a whole lot that can be done, and none of it includes consenting to sweeping new Patriot Act-like authoritarian measures or encouraging monopolistic Silicon Valley plutocrats to censor worldwide political speech. There\u2019s just a whole lot of mass-scale narrative manipulation going on to keep it from being obvious to everyone.<\/p>\n
