Investing For The Greenwash Bubble<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Greenwashing, in case you don\u2019t know, is the\u00a0\u201cdisinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

You know, this sort of thing:<\/p>\n

This is taken from the time of the now infamous Volkswagen emissions cheating scandal. Since then, other large car companies have faced similar controversy \u2014 jumping on the green band wagon. It\u2019s because these days, it pays to be \u201cgreen\u201d (for more information, see Elon Musk).<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing that otherwise intelligent people seem to fail to comprehend: Greenwashing extends way beyond false advertising in consumer goods. It\u2019s made its way into politics, investment products, journalism, and now mainstream opinion in \u201cthe West\u201d.<\/p>\n

Greenwashing is actually now the norm, which we\u2019re now going to get into after I fire off an early warning trigger alert:<\/p>\n

This warning is if you\u2019re a current believer in the generic clean energy revolution. You know the one \u2014 it goes something like this: Unless we \u201cdecarbonize\u201d and move from fossil fuels to so called \u201cclean\u201d energy, within the next decade or so the world suffers irreversible and catastrophic changes that will:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Lead to increasingly warmer temperatures<\/li>\n
  • Kill off swathes of wildlife, causing mass extinctions<\/li>\n
  • Cause untold starvation and hardship for us bipeds<\/li>\n
  • Increase inequality<\/li>\n
  • And so on\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Well, today we\u2019re dissecting this popular narrative that has virtuous intentions, but \u2014 like many things our governments have been mandating these days \u2014 are doomed to fail and actually make things worse than if nothing was done at all.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThat\u2019s a little hyperbolic,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0I hear you say.<\/p>\n

    Well, let\u2019s see\u2026<\/p>\n

    Here are some cold, hard facts, regardless of how controversial they might seem by today\u2019s standards.:<\/p>\n
