The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/air-travel-recovery-2024\/index.html\">International Air Transport Association now projects a full recovery<\/a>\u00a0in international passenger traffic will take until 2024, a year later than the association projected back in April. The hotel industry will get a bit of a jump on the airline industry with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelpulse.com\/news\/hotels-and-resorts\/us-hotel-occupancy-wont-recover-until-2023.html\">a projected recovery by 2023<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsrmagazine.com\/consumer-trends\/it-will-take-years-restaurant-industry-recover\">The situation is so bad for restaurants<\/a>\u00a0that no one seems to be willing to project a date for anything that might be called a recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Office building owners\u2014who are suffering lower rent collections and lease cancellations\u2014seem lucky in comparison with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/millionacres\/real-estate-investing\/articles\/office-buildings-may-not-recover-until-late-2022\/\">a recovery expected by the end of 2022<\/a>.<a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/christiankreznar\/2020\/09\/16\/small-businesses-are-closing-at-a-rapid-pace-with-restaurants-and-retailers-on-the-west-coast-among-the-hardest-hit\/#77de740e5033\">Retailers of all kinds continue to suffer<\/a>\u00a0as closures abound throughout the United States. And,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/states\/new-york\/city-hall\/story\/2020\/09\/14\/grand-central-retailers-facing-closure-plead-with-mta-for-relief-1316886\">anyone who relies on commuter foot traffic<\/a>\u00a0for sales is hurting.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank just signaled that in the wake of such a sluggish economy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/sergeiklebnikov\/2020\/09\/16\/federal-reserve-says-it-will-keep-interest-rates-near-zero-until-2023\/#269d269d798d\">it will keep short-term interest rates near zero until 2023<\/a>.
