His campaign has been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/biden-and-his-ventriloquists-keep-out-hawking-trump-257b8216f5f4\">consistently out-hawking Trump<\/a>\u00a0on foreign policy by attacking him for insufficient aggression toward\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1274910217508196352?s=20\">Venezuela<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1293012127708516353?s=20\">China<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/news\/2020\/01\/15\/asia-pacific\/politics-diplomacy-asia-pacific\/biden-says-no-way-unconditional-meeting-north-koreas-kim\/\">North Korea<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2019\/oct\/15\/biden-isis-syria-attack-trump-withdrawal-warning\">Syria<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1261403984100818944\">Cuba<\/a>, and of course\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1154204620354228224\">Russia<\/a>, as well as criticizing Trump for not acting like a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1251571445248843777?s=20\">wartime president<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1304789209597620230&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fcaitlinjohnstone.com%2F2020%2F09%2F14%2Flets-be-real-president-biden-would-probably-be-more-hawkish-than-trump%2F&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=219d021%3A1598982042171&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1304789209597620230\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hudson.org\/events\/1840-video-event-dialogues-on-american-foreign-policy-and-world-affairs-a-conversation-with-former-deputy-secretary-of-state-antony-blinken72020\">a July interview<\/a>\u00a0with Biden foreign policy advisor Anthony Blinken,\u00a0<em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u2018s Walter Russell Mead\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/GfGn3\">was told<\/a>\u00a0of the campaign\u2019s plan to \u201ctame China, Russia and woke Democrats\u201d using \u201cCold War-era Democratic policy\u201d, including \u201ca\u00a0liberal multilateralism\u2014supplemented when absolutely necessary by the American military and a willingness to use it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Biden administration won\u2019t be looking for a reset, a grand bargain, or anything more than a businesslike relationship with Vladimir Putin,\u201d Mead\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/GfGn3#selection-2579.86-2579.306\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0after the interview. \u201cDemocrats haven\u2019t been this hawkish on Russia since the Kennedy administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile China\u2019s rise and Russia\u2019s turn to the dark side complicate foreign policy, the ideas and institutions of the liberal internationalist order are failing not because the world is fundamentally changing but because the global liberal system has been starved of a critical ingredient in the Trump years: American support,\u201d Mead writes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let\u2019s Be Real: President Biden Would Probably Be More Hawkish Than Trump People who dislike Trump are often reluctant to talk about this, but it looks likely that a Biden administration would be more warlike than its predecessor.
