A<\/strong>lmost 10 years ago\u00a0WikiLeaks<\/em>\u00a0published the\u00a0Iraq War Logs<\/a>\u00a0along with\u00a0The New York Times, The Guardian, El Pais, The Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0and other news outlets.\u00a0<\/span>The logs showed the true numbers of civilian deaths in Iraq\u2014at least 15,000 more people\u00a0had died<\/a>\u00a0than previously thought\u2014as well as the abuse and torture of prisoners by police and military in full knowledge of coalition forces.\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe U.S. figures appear to be unreliable in respect of civilian deaths caused by their own military activities,\u201d\u00a0The Guardian<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>This online event was organized by the Don\u2019t Extradite Assange campaign. It features\u00a0WikiLeaks<\/em>\u00a0editor Kristinn Hrafnsson and investigative journalists Iain Overton and Chris Woods.<\/span><\/p>\n

WikiLeaks<\/em>\u2019 Julian Assange remains held at a maximum security prison in London in relation to a US extradition request \u2013 he faces a sentence of 175 years for publishing truthful information in the public interest, which include the Iraq War Logs.<\/span><\/p>\n
