This pamphlet would prove critical in the relentless critique of climate\u00a0science.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/julian-morris\" target=\"_blank\">Julian Morris<\/a>, research fellow at the Atlas Foundation \u2013 a libertarian think tank founded by Antony Fisher \u2013 started work on the infamous pamphlet\u00a0<em>Global Warming: Apocalypse or Hot Air?<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01994.<\/p>\n<p>Along with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmog.uk\/2015\/01\/24\/the-exact-moment-oil-tobacco-funded-think-tank-imported-climate-denial-to-britain\">Roger Bate<\/a>\u00a0of the Institute of Economic Affairs (<span class=\"caps\">IEA<\/span>) in London, the two co-authored the humble red pamphlet that would prove instrumental in attacking the science of climate\u00a0change.<\/p>\n<p>But it was also the first authoritative-sounding publication produced in Britain that the free market think tanks, journalists and policymakers could turn to that offered support to the sceptic attack on climate\u00a0science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scientific\u00a0Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pamphlet made significant use of the scientific work of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/richard-lindzen\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Lindzen<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the sceptic whose testimony before the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">US<\/span>\u00a0senate had been funded by coal \u2013 and was presented in the language and style of a scientific paper in a peer-reviewed\u00a0journal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cei.org\/expert\/fred-l-smith-jr\" target=\"_blank\">Fred Smith<\/a>, then the president of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (<span class=\"caps\">CEI<\/span>) in the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">US<\/span>, recalls that his colleagues also helped with the research and\u00a0writing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You Will Never Guess Who Was Really Behind Britain&#8217;s First Climate Denial Propaganda&#8230; A humble pamphlet is the subject of DeSmog\u00a0UK\u2019s latest instalment in its history series.
