{"id":52897,"date":"2020-05-01T07:16:38","date_gmt":"2020-05-01T12:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=52897"},"modified":"2020-05-01T07:16:44","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T12:16:44","slug":"coronavirus-somethings-not-right-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=52897","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus: Something\u2019s Not Right Here\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"Coronavirus: Something\u2019s Not Right Here\u2026\">Coronavirus: Something\u2019s Not Right Here\u2026<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It&#8217;s hard not to start asking the question: Are we being played?<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following yesterday\u2019s pimping of Gilead Science\u2019s antiviral drug remdesivir on scant and suspect results, it\u2019s hard not to start asking the question: Are we being played?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve argued in several past videos that there is ample enough evidence that hydroxychloroquine shows enough promise in reducing\/treating covid-19 that further research is merited. Instead, the drug is being demonized in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That doesn\u2019t make a lot of sense to us. But, hey, maybe there\u2019s a good reason that a cheap widely-available treatment that has been administered hundreds of millions of times over the past 70 years, making it one of the most medically-delivered drugs in history, is suddenly being labelled \u201cunsafe\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But much more maddening is that remdesivir has suddenly been promoted to \u201cstandard of care\u201d status despite its spotty and unproven track record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Could that have anything to do with the fact that 9 of the 50 doctors on the NIH panel setting its covid-19 treatment guidelines work for Gilead Sciences?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conflicts of interest and profit motives rampant among our policymakers are extremely concerning.
