His trademark tactic is to acknowledge that climate change is real and human-caused, only to then dismiss the solutions\u2014reducing emissions and promoting clean energy now\u2014as unnecessary or infeasible.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, his longstanding fight against climate action is failing to persuade the public, as an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/01\/31\/us\/politics\/most-americans-support-government-action-on-climate-change-poll-finds.html\" target=\"_blank\">overwhelming majority of Americans<\/a>\u00a0understand that climate change is a serious threat and that we\u2019re already feeling the impacts. More to the point they support action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, especially through continued\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cleantechnica.com\/2015\/01\/23\/polling-shows-americans-support-environmental-enforcement-clean-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\">expansion of clean energy<\/a>\u00a0and new rules for coal-fired power\u00a0plants.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Lomborg has relied on similar distortions for his arguments many times before, even\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php?title=Bjorn_Lomborg#The_Danish_Committee_for_Scientific_Dishonesty\" target=\"_blank\">drawing censure<\/a>\u00a0from the Danish government for his \u201cperversion of the scientific method.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the release of Lomborg\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v414\/n6860\/full\/414149a0.html\" target=\"_blank\">deeply flawed<\/a>\u201d book\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.csicop.org\/si\/show\/skeptical_about_the_skeptical_environmentalist\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Skeptical Environmentalist<\/em><\/a>, the president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/science\/article\/Somber-opening-to-science-meeting-Warning-of-2874199.php\" target=\"_blank\">remarked that Lomborg\u2019s work<\/a>\u00a0was a testament to the \u201cvulnerability of the scientific process\u2026to outright misrepresentation and distortion.\u201d One researcher decided to fact check Lomborg\u2019s claims, and had so much material that Yale published it as a book:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/yalepress.yale.edu\/Yupbooks\/book.asp?isbn=9780300161038\" target=\"_blank\">The Lomborg Deception<\/a>.
