When I wrote it I was imagining the function being used by overt manipulators like cable TV pundits and&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>&nbsp;columnists, and think tank operatives like Neera Tanden who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/neeratanden\/status\/1175022156541059072?s=20\">vocally supported<\/a>&nbsp;the implementation of the function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I absolutely was&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;expecting, as paranoid and conspiracy-minded as I am, was a highly regarded UN-associated international chemical watchdog group using the function for that purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of this writing, if you go to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\">the Twitter account<\/a>\u00a0for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), you\u2019ll see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\/status\/1227594827035967493\">this tweet<\/a>\u00a0at the second from the top:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/profile_images\/1125774315411181569\/8MscH16y_normal.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\"><strong><\/strong><strong>\u2714<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\/status\/1227594827035967493\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OPCW?src=hash\">#OPCW<\/a> Joins <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IUPAC\">@IUPAC<\/a> Global Women\u2019s Breakfast <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GWB2020?src=hash\">#GWB2020<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WomenInScience?src=hash\">#WomenInScience<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GenderChampions?src=hash\">#GenderChampions<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jlxqR74eVa\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.opcw.org\/media-centre\/news\/2020\/02\/opcw-joins-iupac-global-womens-breakfast\u00a0\u2026<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\/status\/1227594827035967493\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>If you log on to Twitter and go to that tweet and click this little button, it will take you to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OPCW\/status\/1227594827035967493\/hidden\">section of \u201chidden replies\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;which aren\u2019t visible on the main tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/caitlinjohnstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/medium-2-1.jpg?resize=661%2C623&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7818\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You will not be surprised to learn that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarlJohanMagnus\/status\/1228381658258296833?s=20\">the tweet<\/a>&nbsp;which the OPCW\u2019s Twitter account has chosen to hide is critical of the organization:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/caitlinjohnstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-19-at-12.23.03-PM.png?resize=660%2C182&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7819\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That \u201c#wikileaksdoumareport\u201d hashtag in the hidden tweet refers to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wikileaks.org\/opcw-douma\/\">the leaks<\/a>&nbsp;which have been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/medias-deafening-silence-on-latest-wikileaks-drops-is-its-own-scandal-ad0d28fe0c5c\">pouring out from the OPCW<\/a>&nbsp;adding to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@caityjohnstone\/the-12-strongest-arguments-that-douma-was-a-false-flag-77d300b495c2\">the mountain of evidence<\/a>&nbsp;that the US, UK and France bombed the Syrian government in 2018 as a retaliation for a chemical weapons attack in the town Douma which did not occur.
