{"id":50975,"date":"2020-02-05T20:55:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T01:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50975"},"modified":"2020-02-05T20:55:37","modified_gmt":"2020-02-06T01:55:37","slug":"u-s-top-shale-oil-fields-decline-10-times-faster-than-global-oil-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50975","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Top Shale Oil Fields Decline 10 Times Faster Than Global Oil Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/u-s-top-shale-oil-fields-decline-10-times-faster-than-global-oil-industry\/\">U.S. Top Shale Oil Fields Decline 10 Times Faster Than Global Oil Industry<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Global Economy is heading for serious trouble when the disintegration of the U.S. Shale Oil Industry begins, likely within the next few years.&nbsp; With Global GDP growth based on world oil production growth, the main driver has been the U.S. shale oil industry.&nbsp;<strong>This is terrible news because the top U.S. shale oil fields are declining ten times the rate as are the world\u2019s mature oil fields.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the IEA, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iea.blob.core.windows.net\/assets\/0a2d030e-6ed8-4841-b5fd-4522da992654\/oil2018MRSsum.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>International Energy Agency\u2019s 2018 Executive Summary<\/strong><\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Natural production declines are slowing, but more investment will be needed.&nbsp;<strong>Each year the world needs to replace 3 mb\/d of supply lost from mature fields while also meeting robust demand growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have seen higher estimates of 4-4.5 million barrels per day of annual production declines from the world\u2019s mature oil fields.&nbsp; Either way, annual oil production declines from the world\u2019s mature oil fields is a tenth of the rate from the top four U.S. shale oil fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we look at the data taken from Shaleprofile.com, the top 4 U.S. shale oil fields (Permian, Bakken, Eagle Ford &amp; Niobrara), 2018 production reached 6.6 (mbd) million barrels per day by December and then declined to 3.7 mbd by October 2019:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d39ua1j16brbz0.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Top-4-US-Shale-Oil-Fields-Total-Decline-Rate-DEC-OCT.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21397\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The top 4 U.S. shale oil fields experienced a 44% decline rate from Dec 2018 to Oct 2019\u2026 and this isn\u2019t for the entire year.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;It will take another month or so before Shaleprofile.com releases the total production figures up until December 2019.
