{"id":50906,"date":"2020-02-02T19:57:33","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T00:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50906"},"modified":"2020-02-02T19:57:39","modified_gmt":"2020-02-03T00:57:39","slug":"how-xi-jinping-will-save-the-world-from-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50906","title":{"rendered":"How Xi Jinping will Save the World from Coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/economicprism.com\/how-xi-jinping-will-save-the-world-from-coronavirus\/\">How Xi Jinping will Save the World from Coronavirus<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/economicprism.com\/how-xi-jinping-will-save-the-world-from-coronavirus\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/economicprism.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ChinaCracker.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4340\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1349, when Black Death was ravaging Europe, many of the day\u2019s best and brightest banded together in pursuit of a common cure.&nbsp; They had little choice.&nbsp; Black Death was rapidly spreading across the continent.&nbsp; Nothing could stop it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boils were lanced with precision.&nbsp; Blood was let with vigor. &nbsp;But there was no escape from the plague\u2019s instant death.&nbsp; It was efficient.&nbsp; It was relentless.&nbsp; People would go to bed at night perfectly healthy; by morning, they\u2019d wake up perfectly dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, at the exact moment of maximum death and despair, flagellants came to the rescue.&nbsp; Processions marched to and fro, seeking relief through forcefully whipping themselves in public displays of self-mutilation. &nbsp;According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/middle-ages\/black-death\">History Channel<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cSome upper-class men joined processions of flagellants that traveled from town to town and engaged in public displays of penance and punishment: They would beat themselves and one another with heavy leather straps studded with sharp pieces of metal while the townspeople looked on.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cFor 33 1\/2 days, the flagellants repeated this ritual three times a day.
