{"id":50493,"date":"2020-01-08T20:21:12","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T01:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50493"},"modified":"2020-01-08T20:21:15","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T01:21:15","slug":"round-one-is-over-an-initial-assessment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50493","title":{"rendered":"Round one is over \u2013 an initial assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thesaker.is\/round-one-is-over-an-initial-assessment\/\">Round one is over \u2013 an initial assessment<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear friends,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looks like Round 1 is over.&nbsp; Let\u2019s begin with a small recap of events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Iran fired a relatively small number of short range missiles at one, possibly two, US bases<\/li><li>The IRGC indicated that if Iran is attacked, then so will Israel<\/li><li>Trump tweeted \u201cso far, so good\u201d<\/li><li>The US reported no casualties<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In plain English this means that&nbsp;<strong>the strike was intended to be both highly visible AND&nbsp;symbolic<\/strong>&nbsp;(Iran has MANY more missiles, including longer ranged ones, which, if Iran wanted to, could strike every single US base in the Middle-East simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So what happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think that Iran wanted to humiliate the US but in a manner which would be under the threshold which would guarantee a US\/Israeli counter-strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, I forced myself to listen to Esper and the Idiot-in-Chief.&nbsp; Here are the salient points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Esper reiterated that the US does not want war with Iran<\/li><li>The US does not want to leave Iraq because, unlike the Iraq MPs, many\/most Iraqis want the US to stay<\/li><li>The US armed forces are THE BEST in the history of the galaxy<\/li><li>Trump will never allow Iran to have nukes<\/li><li>Iran appears to be \u201cstanding down\u201d<\/li><li>Europe needs to ditch the JPCOA<\/li><li>NATO needs to get further involved in the Middle-East<\/li><li>Iran bad bad bad, USA good good good<\/li><li>The US armed forces are THE BEST in this history of the galaxy<\/li><li>USA! USA! USA!
